Well, it’s not really a day after but I thought the title fits the previous blog title “A day before the release” 🙂
4 days passed since the game launched on Steam Early Access and I get lots of questions about sales, crashes and how was the launch in general and I’ll be answering these questions and sharing more of my thoughts about everything.
This one of the maps that will come with next content update on Steam Early Access. It will be irritating because we’re talking about sewers here. Don’t worry, you’ll have fun. It’s a map you’ll remember 😉
So, I’ve decided to write few lines how I feel about the tomorrow’s release of the Courier of the Crypts on Steam Early Access. I pretty much have mixed feelings and a lot of thoughts next to tired eyes and mind.
First of all, I don’t think I realize the big step I’m taking tomorrow with the game. After 4 years of the development of a single game this is huge and maybe part of me still don’t realize that. Tomorrow, in the time of writing, game will be out in the world available to every player and this is something I’m really nervous about.
If you want to read more about mixed feelings, thoughts and my situation, read on 🙂
There was no blog post in a while because I was working on numerous fixes (bugs, crashes) and polishing details for the game. I’ve decided to write a new blog post mainly because I need to supply some information about Early Access because everyone who pre-ordered the game are wondering WHEN is that time of release.
Two weeks passed since the last DevBlog update and I’m sorry for that. I’m sure lots of you are waiting for more updates on Steam release since you’ve preordered the game and I have some good news about that as well.
In this development blog post:
- AOE damage implemented
- Reservoir map update (map from the early demo preview)
- More polishing and bug fixes
- Overworld and profile system updated
- Steam submission resumed
I have some great news for everyone that kept dying and cursing in the Courier of the Crypts demo preview – checkpoints! I’ve implemented them and they are working now more or less. I also have some great news for those that don’t like checkpoints. Matej did an impressive update on the portraits as well.
In this Development Blog post:
- Checkpoints and all the problems I had implementing them (technical details)
- Consequences of dying and respawning at the checkpoint
- Portrait updates and dialog preview
- Ghosts arrival changes
- Other changes / updates
Here I am with another update from the development. There was a weekly pause with the gamedev because life kicked in, throwing some ugly stuff in my face. Next to that, studies started and I’ll be away for almost 2 days every week so I can finish the last exam and execute fatality on the final thesis. Don’t worry though, that’s not a barrier for the game.
